This building dates back to the late 18th century. The
property developers who now own it have allowed this
magnificent example of Leicestershire’s Woollen industry
to become vandalised. In one year, it has deteriorated from the pristine Grade II Donisthorpe Mill to little more than a hulk. The lead has gone from the roof, windows have been torn out and the Golden Ibex feature weather vane has been stolen. Leicester City Council have
reminded the developers of their statutory preservation duties but nothing has been done.
The Victorian Society have joined up with LIHS to assist the Leicester Civic Society in their bid to persuade English
Heritage to upgrade the building to Grade II star which would assist in assuring that it has a future.
