LIHS proudly presents

Images from a Disappearing World by artist Vic Millington.

Prolific painter Vic Millington, comes from a railway family and states that “It is our responsibility to record some of those things from everyday life that once we took for granted and will soon be lost forever as the world progresses. Only those of a more mature age can now recall steam and will soon be lost forever as the world progresses. Only those of a more mature age can now recall steam trains on the railways coupled with a painful smut in the eye!”

It is hoped that some of the paintings will be available as prints at some point, but for now, the book can be obtained directly from LIHS priced at £25, with a discount to LIHS members.

Four images taken from the book have been incorporated into a panel representing the Lift Bridge as part of the Leicester City Council city-wide Heritage Panel Project. The location of the Panel has yet to be determined, suffice to say that it will be located at the Waterside Development near the home of the original Lift Bridge.
